Happy Birthday Holly

It's Hol's birthday today, and although she's not around to celebrate - I know she's celebrating somewhere! This picture is from last year when we had a silly picture taking tree decorating impromptu party. I have the one she gave me as a present hanging over my bed (we have nice faces in that one!). I don't know what else to say besides I miss you Hol, I love you, and Happy Birthday! <3

Bye Bye Mountainside

I am just trying to stay up so I can listen to Wendy's radio show tonight at 2am. www.wmua.org. I wonder if I'll be the only one listening? Heh. Home has been good... lazy, but good. I still have a few things to take care of before getting ready for Umass. The puppies are crazy as usual, especially Aurora. Well I am feeling pretty uninspired, so I suppose that is all for now...

Seatac

I'm at the airport right now waiting to come home! Sorry no posts... lake of internet made it hard. Here is a picture Jared took of me on top of the Space Needle when Mom and Dad came. Like my hair?

Yay!

The internet works in here again! We'll see for how long... I got into Umass Nursing School. Yay! Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it. Yesterday J and I went to Port Townsend. It's like Northampton... with water and mountains. I got some chocolate goat's milk ice cream. It was reallllly good. J likes this picture of Weeg. :)

Beach

After we checked out Cape Flattery, we headed to Hobuck Beach. There was lots of bull kelp (I think that's what it's called) and Jared decided to make a whip out of this piece. Ew. He even got me around the knees :( We found lots of special things on the beach, but they are secrets.

A Visit

Momma and Daddy came out to visit this weekend! It was so much fun, we got to do tons of stuff - and a lot of stuff I don't think we could have done without them (because they had a car). We went to Hurricane Ridge (although we couldn't see much but some snowy trees), Neah Bay, Forks, Victoria and Seattle... in 4 days! I have tons of pictures. Here is Mom and Jared at Neah Bay... the most Northwest point in the continental US. My internet crapped out, so I have to come to a cafe in town to do my assignments and stuff for my online class... so my posts will inevitably be less frequent as well :(

Rogue River

I uploaded some of my Oregon pictures to www.yorkphoto.com and had them printed and sent to me (it was a really good deal... only 10 cents a print plus free prints for signing up and a 99 cent shipping deal). Anyway, I got them today and I was so impressed! It made me realize how much I loved real pictures... not just on the computer screen. I was happy with how my camera was able to handle them... the colors were great! They even have a special digital picture size, 4X5.3, so nothing got cut off! If you want to sign up for York, let me know (even if you don't want to actually use it), if you sign up you get 20 free prints - and I do too!! (That's $2.00 worth, but you have to do it from an e-mail I send you... so please let me know!). Since I was so inspired, here is a picture of the Rogue River... not too far from Mill Creek Falls, close to Prospect, Oregon (on the way to Crater Lake).

Just wanted to add some color to this place!

The moon was out last night. Hmmm... not much else to say about it!

Pups

I am missing my puppies out here. The closest I get is the deeries that come and visit. Today I saw an otter. It was so cute!

Cottage

This is our cottage in Sequim. It is so cute! You can see the mailbox all the way to the left hand side of the picture. If you keep going down the street you go into the ocean. This morning I saw a house go by. Directly across the way from our cottage is another house, then a lagoon, then a row of houses and then Discovery Bay, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the left. Protection Island is to the north (a wildlife refuge) and Port Townsend is across the way. We can see Mt. Baker when it is not foggy. It's been pretty foggy lately though, and when it is you can't see any water :(

Beach

We went for a walk on the beach this morning in the hopes of seeing some tide pools. I think we were a little too late for them, but I did discover this little gem! I don't know how we didn't see it up until this morning, but I think this is Mt. Baker in the Washington Cascades. It must have been too cloudy before, but we realized that we can see it from our cottage. I think seeing a mountain for the first time is one of my new favorites!

Portland

We stopped in Portland on our way up here to Sequim. We had a few hours to walk around and check out the city. For dinner we ate at Al-Amir's, a Lebanese Restaurant - it was really good! Then we walked over to Powell's Books, the "largest bookstore in North America". Jared's Mom spoiled us, and our hotel beds were so comfy! We stayed right on the water, and Wednesday morning walked along the waterfront. We left for Sequim not too long afterwards. The ride was really pretty, I even saw a few glimpses of Mt. Rainier. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to get a better picture of it.

Shasta

This is Mount Shasta, as seen from Klamath National Forrest Meridian Overlook (wherever that is!). It is in California. Jared and I drove up the 'back roads' towards the top of Mount Ashland. It was one scary road! At this part we stopped and walked along the Pacific Crest Trail. Homer had fun.

Crater Lake

Jared said that I look like I'm standing in front of a poster in this picture. It's actually Crater Lake, the one and only. It is my new favorite lake, although I don't think I had a favorite before. My camera just wasn't able to capture the clear bright blue of the lake. We were 7,000 feet above sea level, the lake is an average of 6 miles across and 20 square miles total... it's also about 2,000 feet deep. The drive up was amazing, and I we got to visit lots of little exciting things, waterfalls, rocks and the Rogue River. Then we stopped at Beckie's for huckleberry pie. Except I traded with Jared for cherry because I didn't actually like the huckleberry.

Las Vegas

I totally jinxed myself when I said that I hoped I wouldn't get stuck in Las Vegas. I definitely got stuck in Las Vegas. My plane from Vegas to Medford got cancelled at 1:00 in the morning, after it had been delayed for what seemed like hours. They put me up in a hotel, which was pretty interesting (the picture is the sunrise from my window), as I got to see some more of Vegas, although not much. I finally was able to get to Medford, after a First Class detour to Portland (along with some Bailey's). Of course they forgot to put my luggage on the plane... I saw it on the tarmac as we were pulling out of Vegas, so I was in the same dirty clothes for a few days. I got my luggage this morning, just in time for a trip to Crater Lake...

West Coast Here I Come!

Tomorrow I will be leaving for the Oregon. I am psyched! Except I will miss my puppies and my family for the 4 months I will be on the other side of the country. Friday Jared is taking me to Crater Lake, and then maybe we will go to the coast and see some redwoods! The picture is of Jared and his pups, Luigi and Homer on a hike we took the last time I was there (December 2005). It will be nice to see his family, and I'm glad I get to see Oregon in the summer this time! I will update and post pictures from my trip. Hopefully I won't get stuck in Vegas on the way...

Tomatillos

This year I bought my Mom some tomatillo seeds for Mother's Day. We've never had them in our garden before, but they are looking pretty good so far! I like how they have their little pouches. Too bad I won't be around to try them!

Maggie's 11th Birthday Party

Last night Maggie took a bunch of friends to the New Britian Rock Cats game. The Getler's had a few extra tickets, so my family went along as well. I usually find baseball games pretty boring, but there was plenty to watch as the girls spent the night freaking out about things and having fun. The best part was at the beginning of the game when all the mascots (there are like 4 of them!) rode around the field on a little bus. Here is a picture of my littlest sister, Kathy, and me. Above is Maggie and her friends.

What's the Story Morning Glory?

This is a picture of our room. It's kind of messy, because the Morning Glories on the side of our house are taking over. Yes, inside our room. The two squiggles at the very top above the window are shoots from the millions of Morning Glories. In the morning they even bloom inside our room. Crazy, eh?

Wendy

This is my twin sister Wendy. She is 9 minutes older than me. She went to Hampshire College too, but then she dropped out. Now she is living in Northampton, Massachusetts and is working at Copy Cat Print Shop in Amherst, Massachusetts. She thinks that Alan Rickman is really sexy, and also likes Christian Bale and Trent Reznor a lot. I think maybe she likes art, and might go back to school to be an artist or a librarian. She is a vegetarian but one time she had a hamburger with me. She brought our kitty cats, Sebastian and Ursula to live with her and her friends Lizzy, Alice and Scooter in Northampton. Mom kicked them out of the house because they peed all over the place. They still pee all over the place. Wendy looks like me, but sometimes people can tell us apart. We don't know if we are identical or not, as the staff at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut never told us.

Jared

This is my BF Jared. He is excited in this picture because he is at his new favorite place, the Lego Store in the Natick mall. My parents took us to the Lego Store last week, and so if you look closely, you can see my Mom to the right playing with the MiniFigs. She is wearing a blue sweatshirt. Jared will be embarassed that I made this post, but I already told him that I was going to. He thinks that I take too many pictures of him, so usually he looks mad in them because he thinks I already have enough pictures of him. He likes legos and electronics, and he's studying Chemistry at Hampshire College (where I just recently graduated from). He gets along very well with my puppies, Loco and Aurora, and I think that they might like him best because he spoils them. He has two pups of his own, Weegie and Homer, but they live all the way in Talent, Oregon with his family. He likes spicy food and homemade salsa. In September he has an internship at the the Pacific Northwest National Marine Lab in Sequim, Washington. I will be joining him all the way across the country, and I'm sure come September you will hear more about my trip.

Aurora

This is my puppy Aurora. She is literally still a puppy, as she just had her first birthday at the end of July. She is 3/4 Belgian Malinois and 1/4 German Shepard. She is crazy. Unlike Loco, she likes to spend her days running around after her tennis ball (or frisbee if she's lucky and hasn't chewed it to pieces). She plays with KK in the mornings too, but she needs much more attention than Loco. While Loco is a nice dog, he is kind of selfish. Sometimes he just uses you for treats. Rora is very affectionate... but only to her family! She is very protective and not very well socialized. She will bark at you for hours if she doesn't know you. It is very sad. Hopefully she will get better as she gets older.

Locomotion

This is my puppy Locomotion. He is 3 years old. He lives at home with my family in Connecticut. We're not sure what he is completely, but we know that he is part chihuahua. He likes to eat green beans, and doesn't like salty things or peanut butter. He spends his mornings playing with our neighbor, KK, and the afternoons and evenings relaxing with his family. He is the perfect snuggle pillow to sleep with at night, especially in the winter because he keeps you warm!

Hello

I've decided to start opening up a bit to the world, and so created this blog. It may not be very exciting to most, and I can't say I know anyone who will read it. Regardless, I think it'll be mainly for myself and if you happen to stumble across, well, sorry about that.
