Munich

This weekend Jared, Simon and I rented a car and headed to Munich to visit their friend Alex (and also check out Oktoberfest). We got to see the city and the party, and Jared even puked. Hehe. We went to Dachaus. Overall it was a great weekend!

Burning Owl

Okay, so it's been a while. I've been busy! I'm visiting Jared in Germany for a bit... trying to learn German and explore the area. Last night Jared and I went on a walk to the Penny Markt to get some bread and eggs and hazelnuss milche. There has been a neighborhood carnival for the past few nights. Tonight we were wondering what the feurwehr was doing there! Well just as we pass through the carnival, the people start parading torches down the street! I got my camera and we started to follow/walk with the marchers. There was a band playing marching band music. We took a few turns and after a short bit were circled around a giant owl. A man started reciting a poem in German, at one point everyone started making weird noises. Then the firemen and women let down the rope and all the people (including tons of kids!) walked up to the owl and set it aflame. How cool! We watched it burn as the band continued to play.

It's hot outside today... too hot for the dog park. Coby is sad, but he got to play with his new best friend Olie today. A nice fuzzy German Shepard I'm puppysitting for. Here is Coby's crazy brother Toby. He stayed here for a week and eventually mellowed out...

Grampie Chainsaws Upside Down

Well I guess I missed it in the pictures, but Mom grabbed me to take a shot of Grampie in the whole, chainsawing the tree stump upside down. He is the master of cutting down trees. We don't have any left in our yard! :(

Pilot Rock

We didn't get all the way up because it was too wet/misty that day. Took a little detour to get there, but found a nice little hill! Here are Jared and Abby way up on the slippery rocks. Jared had to hold her back from sliding all the way down to the bottom! (On purpose of course, she was chasing the rocks!)

Lost

When I went to Oregon Jared and I followed the Pacific Crest Trail for a bit up by Hobart's Bluff. Well Jared went to check something out and I got lost. It was quite scary, but we eventually found eachother with some claps. Hehe. Here are the trees I first got lost in...

A day late, but hey, I was watching fireworks! I hadn't gotten the chance to try out the fireworks setting on my camera. Not perfected but I'll take what I can get!

Coby Scardey Cat

Poor Coby is petrified of fireworks! He's been doing fine with all the crazy thunder we've been having though! We'll see how he does tomorrow on 4th of July! Woooh, he's going to his brother's house because he might freak out on the beach. Well here is a pic of Coby and sister Kathy snuggling. Notice Robin playing Sims in the corner... we haven't seen her for a few days now...

Tick ticky tick tick tick

The pups and I headed to Sessions Woods today, mostly on a whim and we weren't prepared for the tick and mosquito infestation. Well I actually haven't found any ticks but I know they are around... just creeping and crawling and being gross. At least the pups had fun! Here is a pic of Coby in the woods when he was just little bitty. Now he loves to dunk his head in the beaver pond with his brother Toby. Right now he is rolling around on the bed trying to get something off his head, I bet it's a tick! Ick!

FIGS

So my new favorite fruits are figs... they are sooo tasty and delicious. It's like a melony flavor but with the perfect texture of seeds and skin (I know I like odd things!). Mom got a fig plant for the deck... supposedly it's supposed to grow figgies! I sure hope it does. But for now it's just got the fabulous fig leaves...

Mom's New Toy

It's a solar powered gargoyle! I haven't seen him shining yet because it's been so rainy. Here he is perched right outside the bathroom window. How classy.

Passion

It's been so cloudy out lately my camera can't even take a good picture! Well that and I am skeptical that maybe it was dropped on it's head a few times too many. Mom's deck flowers are just starting to blossom, including her new passion flower. This picture is one from a couple years ago. I took a picture of the newest blossom, but I am too lazy to upload it to my computer. When the sun comes out I'm going try and get a picture of the pomegranate (!!!) that is flowering as well. Right now we are having a big thunder storm... wooh. Hopefully the flowers will survive :-p

LavaTube

This picture is from Natural Bridge, Rogue River. We went during a pretty high water time, and so the natural bridge was more of a water tunnel. You can see the hole where the water goes through and during the drier season all the water goes through the tunnel. It's kind of hard to see, but the tunnel is a lavatube. This is just a couple of miles down the road from the Rogue River Gorge.

Sun?!

The sun came out for a bit today. Wooh! It's been so long...! But now I am ready for bed and, it's still light outside? Really? Do I have to stay up until it gets dark? I guess I could just be like Robin and "sleep" from 12 am until... um... now? Well not even now, she shows no signs of getting up in the near future. I didn't think that was humanly possible but apparently it is! Finally, here is a picture of the infamous holey rock. So neat!

Happy Birthday Mommy

Saturday was Mom's birthday and we celebrated with broccoli pizza (well I did at least! no one else will eat it, hmph) and an itsy bitsy chocolate cake. She was happy with her pound of chocolate from Trader Joes and the Ipod Shuffle Kathy gave her. Haha Mom is wearing earbuds in this picture, quite funny if you ask me! On another note... I'm not sure if it's all this Pacific Northwest weather or what, but my camera seems to be getting grainier and grainier by the day... what's wrong!?

Going Swimming

Coby loves his new pool. Especially because he doesn't even have to fill it up himself! It filled up completely with rain water this week, and first thing he does is plop himself right in. Better than KK's mucky yucky pond... and the mud puddle at the dog park!

A few weeks ago my family went to Florida to visit my Grandparents. We got to say hi to some new friends at the zoo too! It was a fun trip, my favorite were the batty bats.

Coby's Balls

Mom has been trying to get a picture of Coby sporting 3 tennis balls in his mouth. We finally succeeded last night! He's sad because we pretty much had to hold him down to get the picture. But this is typical Coby, three tennis balls and he usually goes after the other ones when his mouth is already full. What a goofball...

Coby's New Friends

Last night a couple of Robin's friends came up from Florida with 4 new best friends for Coby. They just stayed one night but he loved them so much! I think he cried when they left. Poor Coby, maybe he'll make more friends at the dog park this week.

The Holey Rock

It was just a short hike up the grassy rattlesnake hill behind Jared's grandparents' to get to the holey rock. The rock face looked just like his grandfather, it was kind of amazing and kind of creepy! The body was sandstone and full of holes, and his fingers were coming out the sides of the hill. Not quite capturable in pictures, but here is the profile of the rock face looking over Ashland and part of the Rogue Valley. Abby and I sat on his head and enjoyed the view :)

Growed

Little Coby is all grown up now! He is almost a year old and lots of fun. He likes to dance and chew shoes. Here he is on a hike to the Indian Council Caves in Barkhamsted, CT. He enjoys harassing Loco and loves to hang out with his brother Toby. More pictures to come!
